Sterling Silver hand fabricated Kachina – the Sio Hemis Ta-Amu.
“The Sio Hemis Ta-amu is a Hopi Kachina representing the “Zuni Uncle” to the Hemis Kachina, often depicted in kachina doll carvings with a distinctive green squash-shaped case mask, a black band across the eyes, and a tubular mouth. It is a variant of the Sio Hemis, introducing Zuni influences to Hopi ceremonies, sometimes appearing during the Niman Ceremony.”
Stands approximately 4 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide, base is 1 7/8 inches all around.
Stamped “Jeffrey Castillo sterling” on the bottom of the base, along with “Sio Hemis Ta-Amu”.
