Stunning Vintage Royston Turquoise, Stamped, Sterling Silver Concho Belt.

Belt has 8 Conchas (buckle included) with Brownish Red Leather Belt.

Concho belt has been safely stored inside of a safe for many years.

Full belt measures 36 inches with last hole being at 32 inches. Belt has 4 holes to adjust fit. Belt is 1 inch thick.

Buckle measures 3 1/2 inch long and 2 3/4 inches wide. Buckle fits up to a 1 inch belt.

Each Concha measures 3 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide with back belt loop measuring 1 of an inch long and 1/8 an inch wide.

Stamped on the back of buckle “ChEE”, “Sterling Silver”, and “Handmade”.

Total weight belt included 423 g.

 

About the artist: Mark Chee (1914 – 1981) is one of the earliest Native American silversmiths. He worked with traditional stamp work, using high quality stones, and heavy silver pieces. He began working as a bench silversmith at Thunderbird/ Packards in Santa Fe in the 1930’s – 1960’s which allowed him to start his big career as a well known silversmith.

On this photo, it pictures Mark Chee as the second individual from the left and as someone who helped innovate Native American silver work.
