Vintage woven basket that was originally purchased in 1996 from Natalie Linn who is well known as a basketry expert.

Basket is from Mono Paiute tribe that is from California’s Sierra Nevada and eastern regions, closely associated with the Owens Valley Paiute.

Basket is completely beaded with several geometric shapes and colors.

“Native American basket weaving is an ancient and sacred craft with deep historical roots in daily life and ceremony. Baskets were essential for practical purposes like storing food, carrying water, and transporting goods, while also serving ceremonial and cultural roles.”

Baskets need to be tightly knit that it can hold liquids.

Outer basket measures 3 1/2 inches in length and width and is 2 1/4 inches tall.
